MUKAH – Police in Mukah have arrested a 33-year-old local man in Selangau town on suspicion of drug-related offences.
The operation was carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah) following information received earlier in the day.
The raid took place at approximately 11.50 am in the parking area in front of a business premises. During the inspection, officers discovered a straw containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, commonly known as syabu. The gross weight of the confiscated drugs was estimated at 0.39 grams.
The suspect was taken into custody along with the seized items and brought to IPD Mukah for further investigation.
A urine test conducted on the individual returned positive results for both amphetamine and methamphetamine. Police confirmed that the suspect has six prior records linked to drug offences and other crimes.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The suspect, who is currently unemployed, has been remanded for two days until 17 April 2026 to assist with the investigation.
Mukah District Police Chief DSP Muhamad Rizal bin Alias stated that the department remains committed to combating drug abuse activities in the district.
He urged members of the public to provide information related to drug activities directly to the police via the hotline at 084-871222 or by visiting the nearest police station.
Authorities emphasised that community cooperation is vital in tackling drug-related issues, as public tip-offs often lead to successful enforcement actions.
The arrest in Selangau reflects ongoing efforts by IPD Mukah to safeguard local communities from the dangers of drug abuse and its associated crimes.
