IRSDA Agricultural Projects Progress in Samarahan Region

KUCHING – A total of 20 agricultural development initiatives under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) have been successfully concluded.

These projects form part of a larger portfolio of 62 schemes, valued at RM89.69 million, approved for the 2023 to 2027 timeframe.

According to Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee, an additional five projects are proceeding according to their intended schedule.

She also reported that tender documentation is currently being prepared for six other projects, with the remaining 31 initiatives slated for execution in 2026 and 2027.

Speaking while presiding over an IRSDA Agricultural Development Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday, Rodiyah emphasized the necessity for heightened commitment from all involved parties.

She urged committee members to intensify their efforts to guarantee that all projects are finalized on time, particularly with 30 projects planned for implementation in the upcoming year.

“I urge for cooperation and strong commitment from all parties to ensure this plan is executed smoothly and delivers significant benefits to the Samarahan community,” she stated.

She expressed confidence that the collective experience and expertise available would enable the formulation of a more integrated strategy for local welfare.

Rodiyah further stressed that every project requires diligent monitoring and reporting on its outcomes, focusing on metrics such as income enhancement for farmers and the number of smallholders who ultimately benefit from the initiatives.

She called upon the Agriculture Department to develop a strategic plan that includes early projections to identify and swiftly resolve any potential delays that might hinder progress.

The meeting was also attended by Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris, Samarahan Division Agriculture Officer Hamzah Abu Bakar, and IRSDA Secretariat Special Administrative Officer Anuar Daan.
