KUCHING – Speaking at a closing ceremony on 6 February, the Director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) stressed that, through its Shariah Enforcement Division, successful efforts had been made in hosting the Investigating and Intelligence Officer Competency Certificate Course (SKRIS) 2026 Series 2/2026 at 56 Hotel Kuching from the dates of 3 to 6 February.
Its objective was to gather Religious Enforcement Officers of the state, whose major purpose was to improve competence, professionalism and integrity in performing responsibilities related to shariah enforcement and investigation.
The programme had two main modules, being the Basic Intelligence and Operations Course and the Basic Investigation Course.
The sessions all aimed to enrich officers’ knowledge based on SOPs, enhance operational and investigative skills, and handle evidence efficiently. Promoting the safety of officers as well as ethics was also high on the agenda in enforcement activities.
The closing ceremony was graced by Ustaz Abang Borhanuddin bin Haji Abang Ahmad Masuine, Deputy Director I (Policy) JAIS.
Speaking, the AGF emphasised the need for regular training of enforcement officers in achieving professionalism and high standards of accountability as well as social responsibility.
The programme was enhanced with the participation of facilitators and trainers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Putrajaya.
Their knowledge enabled the participants to gain practical understanding of methods of investigation, frameworks for integrity and approaches for corruption prevention with reference to national enforcement as well as governance standards.
By enrolling officers who are equipped with sophisticated expertise and knowledge, JAIS is geared to further enhance the professionalism of Shariah enforcement throughout Sarawak, making sure that their investigations are dealt with fairly, transparently and ethically.
Course SKRIS2026, Course SKRIS2068, EPDA 2026/01 The SKRIS 2026 is in line with JAIS’s aspiration to develop and sustain a competent enforcement workforce that is able to meet the challenges effectively, preserving the public confidence placed in them.
It also reflects the department’s commitment to promoting Sarawak’s overall aspiration for clean governance and sustainable community development.
