According to a spokesman from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the emergency call was received at 2.33pm. Following the alert, fire engines from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station and the Kota Sentosa Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the firemen discovered that the blaze was confined to the sales shelf inside the premises. Thanks to the quick-thinking staff, who used fire extinguishers to put out the flames, the fire was largely under control by the time firefighters arrived.

The fire brigade then proceeded with thorough fire mop-up operations using hoses to ensure no remaining embers or fire debris posed further danger.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Authorities commended the swift action of the supermarket staff and highlighted the importance of having fire safety equipment readily available at business premises.

The JBPM once again reminded the public, especially business owners, to conduct regular fire safety checks and ensure their staff are trained to handle such emergencies. Quick actions like those taken today can make the difference between a minor scare and a major disaster.
