BAU – A 43-year-old woman narrowly survived after the car she was driving skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine at Jalan Krokong, near Kampung Belimbin, this morning.
According to Bau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander, PBK I Nelson Phang Siaw Ming, the station received an emergency call regarding the incident at 9.20 am.
A Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle with a team of five personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found that a Perodua Bezza had fallen into a ravine. However, the victim had already been pulled out from the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived,” Nelson said in a statement issued today.
The fire team then worked to bring the victim safely up from the ravine. Initial medical treatment was provided by rescue personnel before she was transported to a nearby hospital for further care using an EMRS unit.
He added that the operation was successfully concluded at 9.37 am after the situation was confirmed to be safe and under control.
This incident once again highlights the dangers of rural roads with sharp bends and narrow passages, especially in areas like Jalan Krokong which are prone to accidents. Authorities continue to remind road users to drive cautiously, particularly during morning hours when visibility and road conditions may be more challenging.
The victim’s condition has not been disclosed at press time, but she is reported to be receiving medical attention.
