KUCHING: A man sustained minor injuries following a self-inflicted motorcycle accident along Jalan Politeknik Matang here this afternoon.

Following the alert, the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) dispatched a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engine, accompanied by seven firefighters, to the crash site, which is situated approximately 23 kilometres from the station.
“When our team arrived at the location at 1.48pm, they found it was a self-inflicted accident involving a single motorcycle. The rider sustained only minor injuries and did not require further rescue assistance,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
It was further reported that the victim, believed to be an adult man, was assisted by his friend at the scene and later taken home. No further medical treatment or emergency evacuation was carried out.
The operation, which was led by PBK II Asmadi Mohamad Nawei, was officially called off just minutes later at 1.50pm.
Authorities confirmed that the accident did not cause any traffic disruption along Jalan Politeknik Matang. The Fire and Rescue Department also reminded road users, particularly motorcyclists, to exercise extra caution and ensure their vehicles are well maintained to avoid accidents of this nature.
This incident serves as a reminder that even a minor lapse in attention or control can result in accidents on the road. Safety gear, proper riding discipline, and adherence to traffic rules remain essential in reducing risks for motorcyclists.
