MIRI – The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Miri Division hosted its Appreciation Night 2025 to honour the dedication of its staff, partners, and media collaborators who have contributed to strengthening rural water services throughout the year.

The event, held at the Sarawak Grand Ballroom of the Miri Marriott Resort and Spa, was officiated by JBALB Sarawak Director Datu Ir. Ts. Awg Mohammad Fadillah Awg Redzuan.

He highlighted that JBALB’s achievements were made possible through teamwork and collective determination in overcoming challenges such as limited resources, technical complexities, and growing public expectations.

“Success is not measured solely through reports or figures, but through the spirit, attitude and willingness of our officers and staff to place the people’s needs first,” he said, commending frontline personnel for their tireless efforts under demanding conditions.

Datu Awg Mohammad Fadillah also acknowledged JBALB’s partners and media practitioners as vital allies in delivering accurate and timely information to the public.

He cited the department’s swift response during the Niah incident, which earned positive feedback from community leaders and residents, as an example of effective collaboration.

The evening featured the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation and the JBALB Miri Division Icon Awards.

Assistant Water Engineer (Operations) Christ Andra Razak received the Male Icon Award, while General Service Assistant Shiela Salleh was honoured with the Female Icon Award, both recognised for their exemplary service and dedication.

The ceremony was attended by senior JBALB officials, including Deputy Director (Operation) Ts. Ahmad Selihin Che Said, Deputy Director (Technical Services) Ir. Ts. Kueh Li Li, and JBALB Miri Division Water Engineer Ts. Lau Jing Teck.

The Appreciation Night underscored JBALB’s commitment to valuing its workforce and partners, reinforcing the department’s mission to deliver sustainable and reliable water supply services to rural communities across Sarawak.
