KAPIT – The PKIJ JKR Kapit Division held a breaking of fast ceremony and congregational Terawih prayers to mark Ramadan 1447H / 2026M on 3 March, attended by divisional engineers and staff.
The department’s JKR Depot in Kapit holds the programme as an annual activity during the holy month. It is also designed to promote camaraderie between employees, build teamwork, and provide opportunities for congregational praise.
I started the day by receiving guests and preparing food for iftar. Participants shared the meal together under a canopy of goodwill and peace, a sentiment common in Ramadan.
After breaking the fast, participants performed the Maghrib prayer, followed by Isyak and Terawih prayers in congregation. It was rounded off with fellowship, where staff members wished each other well as if they had known each other for years, illustrating cooperation and togetherness.
The programme was meant to not only celebrate Ramadan but also strengthen ties among employees, organisers said. The event also served a dual purpose, as it was not just an act of religious observance but a celebration that fostered unity within the workplace.
At the ceremony, JKR Kapit members reflected positively about gathering for worship and fellowship. Many cited such activities as building a sense of belonging and strengthening ties across the divide.
The Kapit Division has also vowed to continue holding such programmes in the following years so that Ramadan will always be a month for contemplation, tying the knots of unity and carrying good values among its staff. This initiative aligned with JKR Sarawak’s commitment to promoting harmony and cooperation among its staff.
