KUALA LUMPUR – The Director of Public Works Sarawak, YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy Anak Morris, was among the distinguished guests at the Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026 ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Saturday evening. The event was marked by a spirit of unity and togetherness, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.
The gathering was graced by the presence of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi.
Also in attendance was the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, further highlighting the importance of the occasion.
The Sungkei Anak Sarawak ceremony has become a significant tradition, bringing together Sarawakians in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate Ramadan in a communal setting.
The event reflects the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to fostering unity, mutual respect, and harmony among people of diverse backgrounds.
During the programme, guests were treated to Quranic recitations, prayers, and a shared meal to break the fast, reinforcing the values of gratitude and solidarity.
The evening also included the presentation of Aidilfitri donations to students in need, underscoring the welfare aspect of the event and the state’s concern for its youth studying away from home.
The participation of the Sarawak Public Works Director symbolises the department’s support for initiatives that strengthen ties between government agencies, state leadership, and the wider Sarawakian community.
It also reflects the department’s role in promoting social cohesion alongside its core responsibilities in infrastructure and development.
The ceremony concluded with congregational prayers, including Isyak and Tarawih, leaving attendees with a sense of spiritual fulfilment and renewed commitment to the values of Ramadan.
By gathering leaders, officials, and community members under one roof, the Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026 event reinforced the message of unity and inclusivity while also serving as a reminder of the government’s dedication to both cultural traditions and welfare programmes.
