KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his pride and admiration for national Muay Thai sensation Johan Ghazali, better known as “Jojo,” who has brought honour to Malaysia through his remarkable success on the international stage.
Anwar said he was deeply honoured to receive a courtesy visit from the 17-year-old athlete, whose determination, discipline, and fighting spirit represent the true values of a young Malaysian committed to excellence.
“Jojo’s fighting spirit shows that young Malaysians are capable of achieving greatness when they work hard and stay disciplined. He embodies the never-give-up attitude that we must all emulate,” Anwar said in a statement.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Johan has also become an active voice in social causes, particularly in raising awareness against bullying among youth. His involvement in such campaigns, Anwar said, is a reflection of his maturity and sense of responsibility towards society.
“It is even more inspiring that Jojo uses his platform to speak against bullying and to encourage other young people to build self-confidence and a positive mindset in their daily lives,” the Prime Minister added.
Anwar also emphasised that with continued support and enthusiasm, more young athletes like Johan will emerge to bring glory to Malaysia on the global stage.
Quoting former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Anwar reminded Malaysians to embrace a spirit of service and patriotism — “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
“Congratulations to Jojo for his success and dedication to both his sport and his community. Continue your hard work and let your journey be an inspiration to the younger generation who wish to contribute to the nation,” Anwar concluded.
