KAPIT – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak detained two logging lorries during an enforcement operation along Jalan Kapit-Mujong on Thursday, following complaints and information received from members of the public.
The operation was carried out by the JPJ Kapit Operations Unit under Ops Gempur Kenderaan Commercial, with enforcement personnel conducting patrols and monitoring activities in the area.
The operation focused on commercial vehicles, particularly following concerns raised by the local community regarding logging lorry activities along the route.
During the patrols, two logging lorries were stopped and subjected to inspection by JPJ enforcement personnel.
Several offences were detected during the inspections, including the transportation of dangerous loads, flat tyres and other offences involving the technical condition of the vehicles.
JPJ Sarawak said enforcement action was taken for each offence detected in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law currently in force.
The department said information and complaints from members of the public had played an important role in supporting its monitoring and enforcement efforts.
Community reports can provide enforcement authorities with information about activities or vehicles requiring further attention, particularly in areas where regular monitoring is needed.
JPJ Sarawak also expressed its appreciation to the Kapit community for its cooperation and for bringing concerns to the attention of the authorities.
The department urged members of the public to continue providing relevant information and complaints to assist enforcement personnel in identifying potential road offences.
The latest operation also highlighted the importance of ensuring that commercial vehicles operating on public roads comply with safety and technical requirements.
Issues such as unsecured or dangerous loads and vehicle defects can create additional risks for other road users, particularly on routes shared by heavy commercial vehicles.
By conducting inspections and taking action when offences are identified, enforcement agencies seek to ensure that vehicles operating on public roads meet the required legal and safety standards.
JPJ Sarawak said members of the public could continue to act as its “eyes and ears” by reporting suspected road offences to the department.
The call for public cooperation forms part of broader efforts to discourage repeated violations and promote safer road use.
The operation in Kapit was conducted on Thursday, 10 September 2026, with the enforcement action taken following the inspection of the two logging lorries.
