JPJ Leaders Join Miri Staff for Ramadan Bubur Lambuk Distribution

MIRI – The JPJ Miri Branch has come up with an initiative to conduct a Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme on 4 March, which combines the staff and general public for generic purposes such as unity by sharing among them and compassion in light of Ramadan.

The event was also further dignified by the presence of JPJ’s senior management, who came to lend their support for the effort.

It was attended by Datuk Jazmanie Shafawie, Deputy Director General (Planning & Operations) of JPJ Malaysia; Datuk Haji Mohd Harris Ali, Director of JPJ Sabah; and Tuan Norizan Jili, who is the Director of JPJ Sarawak. Their presence reinforced the department’s commitment to working with communities that transcend state lines.

The programme had JPJ officers hand out bubur lambuk to the public as a display of compassion and solidarity. The initiative was not only about sharing food but also reinforcing the values of humanity, unity and public service, organisers explained.

Senior leaders attending were received well by staff and felt encouraged by the direct support from management. Such involvement demonstrates JPJ’s principle of solidarity with its staff and the community as a whole, irrespective of administrative boundaries, officials said.

Community members also appreciated the effort, as they noted that distributing bubur lambuk during Ramadan is a cultured and spiritual act. This dish, usually prepared during the holy month and shared with others, signifies generosity and togetherness.

Datuk Jazmanie said that events such as this show that JPJ’s scope of work is not just enforcement and administration. He added that public service also needs to reflect compassion and inclusion so agencies stay near the populations they serve.

The event ended with the hope that similar initiatives would continue as a bridge of brotherhood between JPJ’s staff and people within its local community. Coupling leadership presence with boots-on-the-ground involvement, the programme reflected JPJ’s broader mission of integrity, dedication and public service.
