JPJ Miri Cracks Down on Road Offences in Christmas Special Ops

MIRI, 29 December 2025 – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Miri Branch conducted a targeted Christmas Special Operations (Ops) drive to ensure road safety and compliance ahead of the new year. The initiative, spearheaded by the JPJ Operations Unit, took place at strategic locations across Miri, including Jalan Miri By Pass, Jalan Maigold, and Jalan Kuala Baram.

During the operation, officers inspected a total of 212 vehicles of various types. The inspections uncovered multiple traffic offences, ranging from drivers without valid licences to vehicles with expired road tax and insurance coverage. Other violations included expired driving licences and several technical issues with the vehicles themselves.

A spokesperson for JPJ Miri Branch said the initiative aims to instill greater road discipline among motorists while safeguarding public safety. “Our continuous enforcement and advocacy efforts are designed to remind road users of their responsibilities and to reduce accidents caused by negligence or non-compliance,” the spokesperson explained.

The operation forms part of JPJ Miri’s ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety and creating a more orderly traffic environment. By targeting high-traffic areas and focusing on both administrative and technical vehicle offences, the department hopes to raise public awareness and encourage responsible driving habits among all road users.

JPJ Miri also emphasized that similar enforcement activities will continue throughout the year, with the dual objective of protecting lives and maintaining orderly traffic flow. Road users are urged to ensure their documents are valid and vehicles are well-maintained before taking to the roads, particularly during peak festive seasons.

As the festive season concludes, authorities remain vigilant in promoting a culture of safety, discipline, and accountability on the roads of Miri.
