JPJ Miri Seizes 19 Vehicles in Luxury Car Ops, Including Lexus

JPJ Miri Seizes 19 Vehicles in Luxury Car Ops

MIRI — The Miri branch of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) conducted a high-impact enforcement operation known as Director’s Ops No. 13/2025, alongside a Special Operation on Luxury Vehicles, aimed at cracking down on serious traffic offences involving high-end cars and commercial vehicles.

The operation, led by Mr. Jelapin Entalai, was held along Jalan Kipas, Miri, involving 38 JPJ officers. The focus was on ensuring strict compliance with the Road Transport Act, especially among drivers of luxury and commercial vehicles.

During the operation, 166 summonses were issued to various road users. The most common offence was driving without a valid license, accounting for 51 cases. Notably, 19 vehicles were seized on the spot — including a luxury Lexus that was being driven without valid road tax or insurance coverage.

The operation was further strengthened by the presence of JPJ Sarawak Director, YBrs. Tuan Norizan Jili, and JPJ Miri Branch Chief, Puan Fifi Suhesty Asmuni, both of whom were on-site to support and observe the enforcement activities.

Their presence signified the strong commitment of JPJ Sarawak’s leadership in upholding enforcement actions that are firm, fair, and transparent. According to JPJ, road tax and insurance are not only legal obligations but also moral responsibilities to protect all road users.

JPJ issued a stern warning to drivers who continue to flout the law — enforcement will be non-compromising, and consistent operations will be carried out across Sarawak to promote road discipline and safety.

“Road safety is a shared duty, and we will not tolerate negligence,” JPJ Sarawak emphasised in its press release. — JPJ Sarawak
