KUCHING – A presentation and discussion on the Online Vehicle Registration Cancellation System (e-Dereg) and vehicle disposal through the Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) took place on 10 February 2026 at the MOTS Meeting Room, Baitulmakmur Building.
The session was chaired by Tuan Mohd Kamal Hisham bin Abu Bakar, Director of the Vehicle Licensing Division, JPJ Malaysia.
Also present was Tuan Mohd Faizal David bin Jemat, Deputy Director of JPJ Sarawak, along with division heads and representatives from Sarawak State Government ministries and agencies.
The e-Dereg system, launched on 21 March 2024, allows vehicle owners to cancel registrations entirely online.
With automatic verification features, the system streamlines the process and reduces the need for manual intervention. JPJ Malaysia noted that this digital approach improves efficiency, transparency, and public accessibility.
Meanwhile, the AATF initiative provides a structured, environmentally responsible method for disposing of vehicles.
Licensed under the Department of Environment (DOE), these facilities dismantle and recycle end-of-life vehicles according to environmental standards.
The initiative aims to reduce pollution, manage waste effectively, and promote sustainable practices in the automotive sector.
JPJ Sarawak emphasised its commitment to working closely with ministries and agencies to strengthen vehicle management systems.
Officials highlighted that integrating e-Dereg with AATF creates a more systematic and sustainable framework for deregistration and disposal.
These initiatives form part of Malaysia’s broader digital transformation agenda, aligning with efforts to modernise public services while supporting eco-friendly practices.
By combining technology with environmental responsibility, JPJ aims to set a benchmark for future vehicle management policies.
The session concluded with a shared understanding that collaboration among government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the public is essential for success.
JPJ Sarawak expressed confidence that these initiatives will contribute to safer roads, cleaner environments, and more efficient service delivery.
