JPJ Sarawak Joins Lambuk Porridge and Road Safety Awareness Event

KUCHING – Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) Sarawak joined a community programme combining the distribution of bubur lambuk with a campaign for road safety awareness.

PJSS Enterprise organised the event as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, which took place at the company’s premises along Jalan Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub in Kuching. The programme aimed to strengthen community ties while promoting safer behaviour on the road.

Representing JPJ Sarawak’s senior management was Christopher Alex Boniface Barau, Head of Senior Division (Management and Corporate). He attended with officers and staff from the Road Transport Department Malaysia to support the initiative and engage with the public.

The sharing of bubur lambuk, a traditional dish often prepared during Ramadan, symbolised unity and goodwill within the community. At the same time, the road safety segment highlighted responsible driving practices and the importance of following traffic regulations, a message aligned with JPJ’s efforts to reduce accidents and protect road users.

The Road Transport Department Malaysia Sarawak thanked PJSS Enterprise for the invitation and cooperation in organising the programme. Officials noted community activities like this help spread road safety awareness in a way people easily connect with.

They added that public outreach works well when safety messages appear alongside social or cultural gatherings. Events like this reach a wider audience while strengthening the sense of shared responsibility on the road.

JPJ Sarawak hopes that more collaborations with local organisations and businesses will continue in the future. The department stressed safe driving habits remain essential for the wellbeing of all road users.

The programme ended with the Road Transport Department Malaysia Sarawak reaffirming its commitment to working with community partners to promote safety, unity and responsibility across Sarawak.
