Officials confirmed that patrols are being conducted both during the day and at night to ensure continuous oversight of traffic conditions and compliance with road regulations.

The extended hours are intended to provide a more comprehensive approach to monitoring high-risk locations, where accidents are more likely to occur.

JPJ enforcement teams are inspecting a wide range of vehicles, including commercial transport, public service vehicles, and private cars.

These checks cover documentation, technical specifications, and safety standards. Any violations detected will result in enforcement action under existing road laws.

The department emphasised that the operation is not limited to routine checks but also aims to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of safe and responsible behaviour on the road.

JPJ Sarawak has urged motorists to remain vigilant, drive with patience, and ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before embarking on journeys.

Road safety campaigns during festive seasons have long been a priority for authorities in Malaysia, as traffic volumes typically increase significantly.

The combination of long-distance travel, fatigue, and congestion often contributes to higher accident risks. By targeting accident-prone areas, JPJ hopes to reduce fatalities and injuries during this period.

In addition to enforcement, JPJ has also highlighted the importance of community cooperation. Drivers are encouraged to adopt a culture of tolerance and courtesy, particularly during peak travel times.

The department believes that collective responsibility plays a crucial role in reducing road accidents. Authorities have also reminded vehicle owners that compliance with safety standards is essential, not only to avoid penalties but also to protect lives.

Proper maintenance, valid documentation, and adherence to traffic rules remain central to JPJ’s enforcement strategy.

As the festive season continues, JPJ Sarawak’s patrols are expected to remain active across the state, covering both urban centres and rural routes.
