Road Safety Roadshow Boosts Awareness Ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026

KOTA SAMARAHAN – The Road Safety Division of the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ), through the JPJ Sarawak Road Safety Unit, launched a Road Safety Campaign Roadshow in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 to raise awareness among motorists during the festive travel period.

The programme took place on 16 March at the PETRONAS Samarahan Expressway Petrol Station, a location known for heavy traffic, especially during festive seasons when road usage increases.

Representing JPJ Sarawak’s management, Christopher Alex Boniface Barau attended the event and met with road users to share key safety messages.

He reminded motorists to follow traffic rules, practise responsible driving, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before starting long journeys.

He stressed road safety remains a shared responsibility, particularly during festive periods when accident risks increase due to heavier traffic.

The roadshow forms part of JPJ Sarawak’s broader approach of combining enforcement with public education. By engaging directly with motorists at busy locations, the department hopes to reduce accident rates and promote safer travel behaviour.

JPJ Sarawak also thanked PETRONAS for supporting the programme and providing the venue. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting safer roads and ensuring smooth journeys for travellers during the festive season.

The campaign complements enforcement operations under Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026. Through outreach efforts like this roadshow, JPJ aims to remind motorists about vehicle maintenance, speed control, seatbelt use, and courteous driving.

As festive preparations continue, JPJ Sarawak hopes stronger cooperation with corporate partners and community groups will help build a culture of safety among road users across the state.
