Kuching, 10 February 2025 (Monday) – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak has successfully completed the Chinese New Year Special Ops (TBC) 2025, which was conducted from 20 January to 9 February 2025. This large-scale operation aimed to enhance road safety and reduce traffic violations during the festive season.

Strict Enforcement to Reduce Road Accidents
The main goal of Special Ops TBC 2025 was to monitor, detect, and take action against traffic offenders under several laws, including the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334), and the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715).
JPJ Sarawak also emphasized the importance of reducing fatal road accidents, aligning with the United Nations (UN) Resolution 74/299, which targets a 50% reduction in road-related deaths and injuries by 2030.

Over 21,000 Vehicles Inspected
Throughout the operation, JPJ Sarawak carried out 21,856 vehicle inspections, resulting in enforcement actions against 2,790 vehicles. Among the offences detected:
- 4,098 non-compliance notices were issued for various traffic violations.
- 13 vehicles of different types were seized due to serious offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.
JPJ’s Commitment to Road Safety
JPJ Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to strict enforcement against road users who disregard traffic laws. The department emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for reckless and irresponsible drivers.
