JPJ Sarikei Inspects 140 Vehicles in Ops Commercial and Back to School

SARIKEI – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarikei Branch) conducted a joint enforcement operation on 15 January 2026 (Thursday), targeting both commercial and private vehicles across Sarikei town and surrounding areas.

The initiative, known as Ops Gempur Commercial Vehicles and Ops Back To School (BTS), involved patrols and monitoring, alongside static enforcement at KM39 Jalan Sarikei–Saratok.

During the operation, officers inspected a total of 140 vehicles. Several offences were detected, including drivers without valid licences, expired road tax, and technical violations involving vehicle specifications.

JPJ Sarawak stressed that such enforcement activities are vital to maintaining road safety and protecting the well-being of all road users.

The department reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring and enforcement, ensuring that vehicles on the road comply with legal and technical standards.

Officials noted that the operation was particularly significant in school zones and busy traffic areas, where student safety and public welfare are top priorities.

By conducting routine checks, JPJ aims to reduce risks associated with unlicensed drivers and poorly maintained vehicles.

The department has urged motorists to ensure that their documents, including driving licences and insurance, are valid and up to date.

Vehicle owners are also reminded to maintain their vehicles in accordance with technical specifications to avoid penalties and ensure safer journeys.

JPJ Sarawak reiterated that enforcement operations will continue across the state, reflecting its broader mission to instil discipline among road users and strengthen public awareness of road safety responsibilities.
