Sibu, 18 February 2025 – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sibu Branch took swift action today in a targeted enforcement operation known as the “Technical Attack Special Ops.” The operation was part of JPJ’s ongoing efforts to uphold road safety and ensure compliance with the Road Transport Act 1987 and other related regulations.
As part of their enforcement activities, the JPJ Sibu Operations Unit conducted a series of Monitoring and Enforcement Patrols around the busy Sibu town centre. During these patrols, a total of 177 vehicles were inspected. Unfortunately, 19 vehicles were found in violation of various traffic laws. Offences detected ranged from expired motor vehicle licences, expired driving licences, to missing General Driving Licences (GDL) and other technical infringements.
The JPJ’s crackdown isn’t just limited to private vehicles; it specifically targets commercial vehicles that may not be adhering to necessary legal requirements. The JPJ has made it clear that this special operation is part of a broader effort to combat non-compliance with road safety laws, particularly among drivers and owners of commercial vehicles. Those found violating the law could face penalties and action under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1984 (Act 334), and Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715).
The JPJ Sarawak is urging all road users to stay alert and follow all applicable road rules to ensure everyone’s safety on the road. This special ops initiative will continue to ensure that those who commit traffic offences face appropriate legal consequences.
