SIBU, 29 December 2025 – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sibu conducted a major enforcement drive, targeting commercial and luxury vehicles across Sibu Town yesterday. The operation, known as Ops Gempur Kendera Perdagangan and Ops Mewah Vehicule, was led by Tuan Ariffin bin Zain, Deputy Head of JPJ Sibu Branch, together with the JPJ Sibu Operations Unit.
The operation focused on key areas, including the Sibu Bus Terminal, where public transport vehicles were inspected to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. A total of 193 vehicles of various types were checked during the enforcement drive. Among the findings, one luxury vehicle was seized for having an expired road tax and lacking valid insurance coverage.
In a joint initiative with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sibu, urine tests were also conducted on drivers and public transport users at the bus terminal. This integrated approach aims to combat drug abuse among road users and further strengthen traffic safety in the town.
Tuan Ariffin emphasised that continuous enforcement is crucial to maintaining road safety and ensuring that drivers comply with the law. “Our goal is not only to enforce regulations but also to raise awareness among road users about their responsibilities. We will continue to carry out such operations regularly to protect the public,” he said.
JPJ Sibu reiterated its commitment to rigorous enforcement, highlighting that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to prevent accidents and enhance overall road safety standards in the region. The department urged drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy, properly insured, and compliant with all legal requirements.
With these measures, JPJ Sibu aims to foster a safer driving culture while deterring violations that could compromise public safety.
