KUCHING – A strong sense of unity filled Padang Merdeka as thousands of residents gathered for the fourth edition of Juh Berambeh Sungkei, organised by MySed in collaboration with Kuching North City Hall (DBKU).
Held during the holy month of Ramadan, the event was officiated by Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, who also serves as Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development.
Also present were Kuching North Mayor Dato Haji Hilmy Othman and DBKU Director Ramzi Abdillah, whose attendance reflected the significance of the event in bringing the community together.
The gathering attracted thousands of participants from various backgrounds, regardless of religion or race, who came together to break fast and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the evening was the bertuntong raya segment, which added a unique cultural element to the celebration.
Organisers noted that the programme was not only about sharing a meal at sunset but also about strengthening relationships among the people of Kuching.
The strong turnout reflected the city’s continuing commitment to inclusivity, harmony, and mutual respect.
Community events like Juh Berambeh Sungkei have gradually become a meaningful tradition in Kuching, offering residents a chance to celebrate Ramadan together while reinforcing the values of unity and togetherness.
