KUCHING, 15 May 2025 – A devastating fire destroyed a semi-detached house in Lorong 11, Kampung Bintawa Ulu early this morning, shocking residents but leaving no one injured.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), they received an emergency call at 8.01 am regarding the fire. Firefighters from Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), along with support from BBP Padungan, were quickly dispatched to the location.

The affected structure, described as a semi-permanent house measuring 50×80 square feet, was completely engulfed in flames by the time the team arrived. The fire was intense, leaving the house 100 percent destroyed.

The incident also caused heat damage to two nearby homes, estimated at five percent, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading further through swift and efficient action.

The firefighting team used a 300-foot long hose line with two nozzles, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant to bring the situation under control.

Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported in this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Residents in the area are advised to stay alert and ensure electrical wiring and gas systems are regularly checked to avoid such tragic events in the future.

This fire incident is a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety awareness and the need for quick emergency response in preventing greater losses.
