The event started at 12.00pm with the arrival of guests and the opening of a counter featuring publication materials. At 1.00pm, the air was filled with the delicious aroma of lemang burning, a tradition that warmed both hearts and stomachs, adding a classic Malaysian touch to the festivities.

Honored guests included Mr. Julius Scott anak Sapong from the Padawan Subdistrict Office, Mr. Helmy bin Hamid, Director of the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak, and The Honorable Dato’ Ir. Lo Khere Chiang, Assemblyman for N13 Batu Kitang.

The event officially opened with the singing of Negaraku and Ibu Pertiwiku, followed by a pledge and prayers for Malaysia’s peace and unity. Mr. Helmy then gave his welcoming speech, reminding everyone that traditional face-to-face communication remains the best way to strengthen the bond between the government and the people.

“The JIWA@Komuniti MADANI Program is not only about celebrating festivals,” Mr. Helmy said. “It’s about nurturing unity, respect, and tolerance in our society.”

Dato’ Lo Khere Chiang echoed these sentiments, praising the Kampung Bumbok community for using the Syawal month to appreciate and recognize Muslim converts in their midst through the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri ceremony.

“In Sarawak, ‘Segulai Sejalai’ is not just a slogan. It is our way of life,” Dato’ Lo said. “This unity must continue to secure our future stability and economic growth.”

The event ended with a group photography session, a dinner feast, a lucky draw, and warm conversations among neighbors. Kampung Bumbok showed that even in a fast-moving digital world, the Malaysian spirit of togetherness — the MADANI spirit — remains strong and proud.
