PADAWAN – Kampung Mambong is set to benefit from over RM300,000 in new infrastructure funding, as part of ongoing efforts to boost rural development in Sarawak. The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Transport (Air and Road) Sarawak, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, during the closing ceremony of the Kampung Mambong Football Carnival 2025 on Sunday.
The event, which also saw the official inauguration of a new pavilion at the village field, provided the platform for Datuk Dr Jerip—who also serves as the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Mambong—to reaffirm his commitment to grassroots development.
According to Dr Jerip, RM200,000 has been allocated for the construction of a new sepak takraw court, while another RM100,000 will go toward building seating facilities at the village field, both aimed at enhancing local sports and recreational infrastructure.
“These developments are not just about improving facilities, but about nurturing community well-being and youth engagement through sports and recreational activities,” he said.
He also noted that a request to upgrade Lane 3 leading to the village church has already been received. He advised the Tribal Leader and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) to submit a formal application to expedite the process.
The ceremony was also attended by Padawan Subdistrict Office Administrative Officer Julius Scott Sapong, community leaders, and local residents.
This latest announcement reinforces the Sarawak government’s commitment to uplifting rural areas through strategic investment in infrastructure, particularly in growing communities like Kampung Mambong.
