KUCHING, 27 February — Residents of Kampung Sebuak Landeh received exciting news as the official launch for Kerja-Kerja Naiktaraf Dewan Kampung Sebuak was held recently. The event marked the start of much-needed upgrading works to improve the village’s community hall, bringing better facilities for the local people.

The official appointment letter was formally handed over by Pejabat Pembangunan Negeri Sarawak, witnessed by YB Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang together with Ketua Kampung Sebuak Landeh, Amit Bin Bakri. This moment symbolised the kick-off of an important community development project under PRISMA initiative.

What Will Be Upgraded?

The upgrading works involve several key improvements to the Dewan Kampung Sebuak, including:
✅ Installation of steel trusses across the stage area to strengthen the structure.
✅ Construction of a concrete floor slab over the steel trusses for improved durability.
✅ Building new walls, lightings and windows to form a proper office space within the hall.
✅ Addition of new staircases for safer and easier access.

This development project is valued at RM100,000, demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing public facilities, especially in rural areas like Kampung Sebuak.

YB Lo Khere Chiang: Government Supports Community Development

During the event, YB Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang expressed his strong support for the project, stating that the government is continuously looking at ways to uplift the living conditions of rural communities.

“This hall is not just a building — it is the heart of community events, gatherings, and even important village meetings. I hope these upgrades will create a more comfortable and functional space for all Kampung Sebuak residents,” said YB Lo.

Meanwhile, Ketua Kampung Amit Bin Bakri also welcomed the project, saying that the upgraded hall will benefit all villagers, from the youth to the elderly.

With works now officially launched, residents are looking forward to seeing their Dewan Kampung transformed into a better, safer and more modern community space.
