KUCHING – The people of Kampung Sungai Laru came together in full spirit on 14th September for the Community Level Self-Efficiency Program, Civil Community organised at the village grounds. The programme aimed to strengthen unity, promote health, and encourage active participation among residents of the community.

The event was led by Village Head Tuai Rumah Cuhoo Anak Mulah alongside Ketua Komuniti Madani Kampung Sungai Laru, Puan Doris George. It drew strong participation from villagers of all ages, with activities beginning as early as 6.30 a.m.

By 7.00 a.m., invited guests and officials began to arrive, including Mrs. Pauline from the Department of Information and Mr. Sih Hua Tong, Chairman of SUPP Batu Lintang Branch. The morning programme commenced with the singing of Negaraku and Ibu Pertiwiku anthems, followed by an energetic aerobics session led by instructor Mohd Fairos Ibrahim, which set the tone for a lively day.

In his welcoming speech, Tuai Rumah Cuhoo Anak Mulah expressed gratitude to the organisers and stressed the importance of such programmes in fostering closer ties among residents. Mrs. Pauline also highlighted the significance of informed communities in supporting nation-building, while Mr. Sih Hua Tong, in his official address, praised the strong unity displayed by Kampung Sungai Laru and encouraged continued collaboration in future community activities.

One of the highlights of the day was the Independence Day Parade, where villagers showcased their patriotic spirit. The programme continued with light refreshments and fun activities, including children’s sports and colouring competitions, which brought joy to the younger participants.

The event concluded in the afternoon with a prize presentation ceremony at 1.00 p.m., before dispersing at 2.00 p.m. Organisers described the event as a success, demonstrating the strength and harmony of Kampung Sungai Laru’s community spirit.
