Kampung Tabuan Dayak Marks Malaysia Day With New Village Signboard Launch

KUCHING – Kampung Tabuan Dayak came alive this morning with a series of activities in conjunction with Malaysia Day, culminating in the launching of a new village signboard officiated by Temenggong Nelson Kloni.

The ceremony, held at the Rumah Asap Tabuan Dayak Compound, was witnessed by Tuai Rumah (TR) Maria Anak Assim, Sih Hua Tong (SUPP Batu Lintang Branch Chairman), Councillor Roy Mason, Penghulu Diana John Tambi and members of the JKKK Kampung Tabuan Dayak.

The event kicked off as early as 7.00am with a community gathering, followed by an aerobic exercise session led by Mr. Ngo Hawing. Shortly after, TR Maria Assim flagged off the Flag Run alongside the Komuniti Madani of Kampung Tabuan Dayak. The run was also joined by Sih Hua Tong, symbolising the spirit of unity in celebrating Malaysia Day.

Children aged 4 to 12 years participated in a colouring competition at 8.00am, adding joy and colour to the occasion. Prizes were later presented to the winners by Temenggong Nelson Kloni and Sih Hua Tong.

At 9.00am, the official opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of Temenggong Kloni. The programme included the singing of the National Anthem and Ibu Pertiwiku, speeches by the council chairman and TR Maria Assim, followed by the opening address from Temenggong Kloni.

The highlight of the day was the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the new Kampung Tabuan Dayak signboard. The moment symbolised a fresh chapter for the community, reflecting their pride in heritage and unity. Souvenirs were also presented to Temenggong Kloni before a photo session with community leaders.

Breakfast prepared by the JKKK Kampung Tabuan Dayak was served at 10.00am, followed by a gotong-royong activity at the JKKK office. The event concluded at 11.30am with the dispersal of participants.

The Malaysia Day celebration at Kampung Tabuan Dayak not only showcased community spirit but also strengthened bonds among residents, marking the day with pride, tradition, and unity.
