Sarawak TYT Praises Kenyalang Gold Card as Senior-Friendly Move
KUCHING – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his consort Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, received the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) in a meaningful ceremony at their official residence in Petra Jaya this morning.

The presentation was made by officers from the Sarawak State Palace and marks a significant step in the state government’s continuous effort to honour and support its senior citizens.
The Kenyalang Gold Card programme is a flagship initiative under the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Children and Community Well-being, targeting senior citizens aged 60 and above. Designed to improve the quality of life of the elderly population in Sarawak, the card offers exclusive benefits, including discounts and rebates from participating vendors who are strategic partners of the state.
“This is a very good initiative by the Sarawak Government, and it shows their care and appreciation towards the elderly community,” said Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi, who warmly thanked the ministry for their proactive approach.
Toh Puan Fauziah also expressed her appreciation for the programme, saying it reflects a deep sense of gratitude for the contributions made by senior citizens in building the state.
The KGC not only provides economic relief through special offers and services, but also acts as a symbol of recognition for senior citizens’ roles in society and their lifelong efforts.
Introduced as part of Sarawak’s vision to create an inclusive and caring community, the programme continues to grow in popularity among the elderly. It also promotes collaboration between the government and the private sector to build a support network for ageing citizens.
With over 150,000 senior Sarawakians already registered, the Kenyalang Gold Card continues to be one of the most appreciated state-level welfare initiatives. – TYT Sarawak
