Kampung Abang Hall Upgrade Boosts Rural Facilities

Kampung Abang Hall Upgrade Boosts Rural Facilities

PADAWAN – A recently refurbished multipurpose hall in Kampung Abang has been formally handed over to the community, representing a significant enhancement to local amenities.

The project was executed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Mambong constituency.

The official handover and final inspection ceremony were conducted, confirming the successful conclusion of the upgrade works.

Valued at RM200,000, the initiative commenced in March 2025 and reached full completion in August of the same year, adhering to its six-month timeline.

Substantial structural repairs were undertaken alongside improvements to basic amenities and safety features.

These comprehensive works have transformed the facility into a more functional and comfortable venue for village residents.

The enhanced hall is anticipated to become a central point for various community activities.

It will host local meetings, social functions, and events, thereby strengthening communal bonds and supporting grassroots initiatives in Kampung Abang and the surrounding area.

This development is consistent with the State Government’s wider strategy to empower rural populations.

It directly supports the objectives outlined in the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which prioritises infrastructure improvement.

The RTP initiative, under which this project falls, is designed to narrow the developmental divide between urban and rural regions.

A key focus is providing better access to quality facilities and communal spaces for those living outside major towns.

The handover event was attended by several officials, including Keron Mapus, the Special Administrative Officer to the Deputy Minister for Transport.

Also, present were representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR) Kuching Division and the village chieftain, K.K. Rim Noyon.

The upgrading of community halls is a common RTP project type, addressing the need for dedicated spaces where villagers can congregate.

Such facilities are vital for fostering social cohesion and enabling the organisation of local welfare and cultural activities.

For the Mambong constituency, this project adds to a growing portfolio of completed RTP works. These cumulative improvements are gradually elevating the standard of living and access to services for residents in the Padawan area.
