SADONG JAYA – The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy at the Samarahan District level was celebrated with patriotic enthusiasm at Sri Nilam Hall, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sadong Jaya, on Monday. The programme succeeded in igniting national pride among the local community.
Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapi’ee described the event as more than symbolic, stressing that Sarawak’s independence within Malaysia on 16 September 1963 remains a foundation of hope for the people’s continued development.
“The theme MADANI Malaysia: Rakyat Disantuni is very significant because it reflects the commitment of the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government in building a caring, inclusive and resilient society.
It is also in line with the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 which emphasises sustainable development and the well-being of the people,” she said in her address.
Rodiyah also expressed appreciation to the Sarawak Information Department for selecting SMK Sadong Jaya as the first venue for Phase Four of KMJG 2025, calling it a recognition of the patriotic spirit of the Sadong Jaya community.
She urged residents to support the “1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang” campaign to enliven the National Month celebrations.
“When every house and village is decorated with the Jalur Gemilang, it not only revives the atmosphere of independence but also reflects the strength of community unity,” she said.
Rodiyah further reminded youth to equip themselves with knowledge, skills, discipline and strong identity values, so they can seize opportunities from government-led development.
Quoting Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, she said, “Remember the message of Tunku Abdul Rahman, tolerance is our strength as Malaysians.”
The programme, organised by the Sarawak Malaysian Information Department, featured nearly 40 convoy participants, led by Muhammad Syazwan Abd Rahman, Chief Assistant Director representing the State Information Director. Despite rainy weather, the patriotic spirit of the delegation remained strong.
Also, present were Abdullah Sam Yusup, representing the Asajaya District Officer; Madelina Inum Salipui, Samarahan PPD Counselling Officer; Hajijah Mohtar, Principal of SMK Sadong Jaya; local leaders, department heads, teachers, and students.
