KMKN Expands Membership, Strengthens Structure for Greater Support

SIMUNJAN – The Kampung Nanas Gymnastics Club (KMKN) has marked a significant milestone in its growth, expanding its membership and strengthening its organisational framework to attract wider support and funding opportunities.

Simunjan State Assemblyman Awla Dris congratulated the club on its progress, noting that the development represents a major improvement compared to earlier years when activities were limited to residents’ yards. He revealed that KMKN now boasts 68 registered members, a positive indicator for the advancement of gymnastics in the area.

“When the club operates regularly, it becomes easier to secure various forms of support, including access to facilities that may have previously been restricted,” Awla said during the closing ceremony of the P200 Batang Sadong Parliamentary and Simunjan State Legislative Assembly Indoor Gymnastics Competition at the Sri Nancy Arena on Sunday.

The event was also attended by Rodiyah Sapiee, Member of Parliament for Batang Sadong, who joined Awla in presenting prizes to winners across three categories – men, women, and youth aged 15 and below.

Awla further encouraged KMKN to strengthen its financial position by submitting official applications to agencies and individuals who have previously supported sports programmes. “This orderly process not only demonstrates our seriousness but also makes it easier for relevant parties to channel assistance,” he explained.

He suggested that the club approach the relevant sports ministry, which could potentially allocate up to RM10,000 to support its activities. Awla expressed hope that KMKN would continue to develop gymnastics and consider opening future competitions to participants from across Sarawak, enhancing the club’s reputation and nurturing new talents.

The two-day competition concluded with strong participation, reflecting growing interest in gymnastics among local communities. The event also highlighted KMKN’s role in promoting youth engagement and fostering discipline through sports.

Among those present were Bojeng Ali, Deputy Head of the Simunjan Branch of PBB, Yaman @ Latif Adam, Chairman of KMKN, Councilor Mohammad Zaini Morshidi, Deputy Chairman of the Simunjan District Council, Penghulu Ahmad Dol Simpol, Rangawan Rafendy Ariffin, Head of PBB Zone 4, and Jamil Semoni, Head of the Simunjan Branch of the PBB Youth Movement and State Youth Exco.

The presence of community leaders and officials underscored the importance of collective support in strengthening grassroots sports, ensuring KMKN continues to thrive and contribute to the development of gymnastics in Simunjan.
