Kota Samarahan Flood Victims Receive Food Aid At Relief Centre

KOTA SAMARAHAN – Residents displaced by flooding in Kota Samarahan have received immediate food assistance at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) located at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan.

On Friday, Lt. (M) (PA) Dayang Rohana Abang Mahdi, Samarahan District Civil Defence Officer, officiated the distribution of Initial Food Kits (KMP) to evacuees.

The initiative is part of ongoing relief measures designed to ensure that affected families have access to basic necessities during their stay at the centre.

As of 1.29 pm, 23 individuals from eight households had registered at the PPS. The evacuees include residents from Kampung Plaie and Kampung Jegoi, with Kampung Plaie accounting for three households totalling 13 victims, while Kampung Jegoi contributed five households with 10 victims.

The group comprises senior citizens, adults, children and one infant. Authorities confirmed that the situation at the centre remains stable, with safety and welfare measures firmly in place.

Operations at PPS Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan are supported by several agencies, including the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and RELA. A total of 14 personnel have been deployed on a rotational basis to maintain order and provide assistance.

Local authorities have urged members of the public facing flood-related emergencies in the Samarahan district to contact the Samarahan District Civil Defence Force at 082-672999 or dial the national emergency line at 999.

Officials stressed that monitoring efforts will continue, with updates on the relief centre to be communicated as necessary.

During the visit, Superintendent Damataries Lautin, Samarahan District Police Chief, inspected the PPS to assess the current conditions and ensure that security arrangements remain effective.

The distribution of food kits highlights the importance of coordinated disaster response, where multiple agencies work together to safeguard the welfare of evacuees.
