KOTA SENTOSA — People-first development continues to take shape in Kota Sentosa as Rural Transformation Programme projects bring safer, more inclusive and practical facilities to local residents. Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman YB Wilfred Yap reaffirmed his commitment to community-focused development with the rollout and completion of key RTP projects in Batu 7 that directly address daily needs raised by the public.
During a site visit, YB Wilfred Yap witnessed the handover of the Letter of Award for the RTP 2025 upgrading of the Batu 7 Covered Basketball Stadium Phase 2. The project, with an allocation of RM300,000, will be carried out by An-Nashr Resources under the supervision of the Padawan Municipal Council. Officers from the council were present during the handover, marking the official start of the works.
The Batu 7 basketball stadium is one of the most actively used sports facilities in the area, especially among youths and families. Phase 2 of the upgrade is aimed at improving comfort, safety and traffic flow for users. The planned works include the construction of two new changing rooms with shower facilities, resurfacing to improve the condition of the court area, additional car parking spaces and a new entrance to ease congestion during peak hours.
YB Wilfred Yap said the project is more than just an infrastructure improvement. He stressed that sports facilities play an important role in promoting healthy lifestyles, discipline and social interaction within the community. According to him, the upgrade reflects feedback received from residents who regularly use the facility and want a safer and more organised environment.
On the same day, YB Wilfred Yap also carried out a final inspection of a completed RTP 2023 pedestrian walkway upgrading project in Kota Sentosa, Batu 7. The project, which cost RM39,000, has now been fully completed and handed back for public use. The upgraded walkway improves safety and accessibility, particularly for senior citizens, schoolchildren and residents who depend on walking to move around the neighbourhood.
He noted that small-scale projects such as pedestrian walkways often bring the greatest daily benefit to the people. These improvements, while modest in cost, help reduce risks and make the area more liveable for everyone.
YB Wilfred Yap emphasised that all RTP projects under his leadership are identified through grassroots feedback, on-the-ground assessments and close cooperation with local authorities. He said this approach ensures that public funds are used responsibly and translated into real benefits for the community.
He added that he will continue working closely with the Padawan Municipal Council and relevant agencies to ensure development in Kota Sentosa remains practical, inclusive and focused on the needs of the people.
