KUCHING – Residents of Taman Westwood and Jalan Hamdan joined a Community Friendly Walkabout Program on Saturday, 24 January, with participation from Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and other agencies.
The program focused on inspecting local drainage systems, cleanliness, stray dog management, street lighting, and other neighbourhood concerns.
DBKU’s Deputy Director of Community Services, Mr Rudzaimeir Malek, took part alongside residents and agency representatives to assess the community’s needs.
Organisers said the initiative created a direct platform for residents to engage with government agencies, enabling faster responses to issues. The collaborative effort also highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Residents appreciated the presence of DBKU and PDRM, noting that such walkabouts help build trust and strengthen the relationship between authorities and the community.
The event concluded with agencies pledging to follow up on the concerns raised, reinforcing a commitment to ongoing cooperation.
Community leaders expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue, ensuring the safety and welfare of residents while enhancing the quality of life in Taman Westwood and Jalan Hamdan.
