Kuching Police Arrest 59 in Nine-Day Narcotics Operation

Kuching, Sarawak – The Kuching District Police have successfully concluded a nine-day special narcotics operation, resulting in the arrest of 59 individuals for various drug-related offences. The operation, which ran from 6 to 14 December 2025, aimed to curb the distribution and abuse of illegal substances across the Kuching area.

According to ACP Alexson Naga Son of Chabu, Kuching District Police Chief, the special operation involved coordinated efforts by the Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department and close cooperation with the public. “This success reflects the continuous research and support from the community. The Royal Malaysian Police will not compromise with anyone involved in drug distribution. Possessing, distributing, or protecting drug activities is a serious offence under the law,” he said.

During the operation, a total of two individuals were arrested under Section 39Α(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, nine individuals under Section 12(2), and 48 individuals under Section 15(1)(a) of the same act. Authorities also seized 23.84 grams of methamphetamine and 0.90 grams of Erimin pills, with a combined estimated value of RM2,682.40.

ACP Alexson emphasized that drugs remain a major threat to society and the law enforcement agencies remain committed to safeguarding the present and future generations. He also urged the public to assist in the fight against drugs by reporting suspicious activities through the JSJN hotline at 012 208 7222 or the JSJN IPK Sarawak hotline at 017 592 9211.

The operation underscores the continuous vigilance of the Royal Malaysian Police in tackling narcotics issues and reflects the growing collaboration between authorities and the community in promoting a drug-free environment in Sarawak.
