Kuching Entertainment Centre Raided for Overtime Operations and Immigration Offences

Kuching Entertainment Centre Raided for Overtime Operations and Immigration Offences

KUCHING — An entertainment centre along Jalan Canna was raided on Thursday morning after authorities detected the premises operating beyond permitted hours and employing individuals suspected of violating immigration regulations.

The operation, carried out at approximately 9.15am on 28 November 2025, involved a coordinated team from the D7 JSJ IPK Sarawak and the D7 JSJ IPD Kuching branch. Officers moved in swiftly as part of Op Noda/Op Entertainment Center, targeting premises believed to be flouting state entertainment and immigration laws.

During the raid, authorities detained nine individuals present inside the premises — four men, three local women, and two foreign women from China. All of them were taken in for further investigation as officers worked to verify their roles and the legality of their presence at the location.

Initial checks showed that the outlet did possess a valid entertainment licence. However, the operator had allegedly breached Section 24 of the Entertainment Ordinance 2001, which governs operating hours and the conduct of entertainment activities throughout Sarawak. The team also invoked Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 after detecting suspected irregularities involving the two foreign women.

Investigating officers noted that the combination of licence violations and possible immigration offences remains a persistent challenge in Kuching’s entertainment sector. Premises that attempt to bend the rules for profit have long been a concern, prompting continued enforcement efforts by the police, especially through specialised branches such as D7, which focuses on vice, gaming, and secret society activities.

Authorities are expected to question the detained individuals in detail, including the management of the outlet, to determine how long the premises had been operating beyond permitted hours and whether the employment of the foreign women involved any elements of trafficking or exploitation.

Police also reminded entertainment centre operators across Kuching and the wider Sarawak region to comply strictly with all regulations. Enforcement efforts, they said, will continue without compromise as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and uphold the law.
