KUCHING- The city’s riverside was transformed into a vibrant spectacle of light and colour with the launch of the Kuching Heritage Lights and Floral Festival 2025.
The official opening ceremony took place on Sunday evening along the Kuching Riverbank, drawing large crowds.
The event was inaugurated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, who activated a new landmark lighting system.

The installation illuminates several key sites, including the DBKU Bukit Siol Headquarters Building, the Kuching Riverbank, and the E-Penambang area.
Organised by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), the festival aims to present a fresh visual identity for the city, reinforcing its status as a premier cultural tourism destination.
The combination of creative illumination and extensive floral arrangements is designed to enhance the nocturnal cityscape.
A brilliant fireworks display captivated attendees, lighting up the sky above the Sarawak River.

The festival also features a dedicated Floral Festival Exhibition, showcasing artistic installations created from local flora by various participants.
The newly installed lighting is intended to become a permanent iconic feature for Kuching, symbolising a commitment to preserving heritage while embracing modern aesthetics.
The event was attended by numerous state ministers and dignitaries, underscoring its significance to the region’s cultural calendar.
