Kuching International Cat Festival 2025 Promises Purr-fect Fun

KUCHING – Cat lovers will once again have a reason to gather in the city as the Kuching International Cat Festival 2025 is set to be held from 26 to 28 September at the Kuching Waterfront. The festival, organised by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) in collaboration with Putra Cat Boarding and Service, was officially announced during a media conference chaired by DBKU Director, Yang Berusaha Encik Ramzi bin Abdillah.

Previously known as the Cat Show, the event has now been rebranded and upgraded into the Kuching International Cat Festival to reflect a larger-scale organisation and more diverse content. According to the organisers, the change is aimed at attracting more visitors from within the country and abroad, while also enhancing the cultural identity of Kuching as the “City of Cats”.

Among the highlights of this year’s festival is the World Cat Show, which will showcase more than 246 cats of various breeds from both local and international participants. Another key attraction will be the Cat Parade, featuring over 76 cats, which will take place on 27 September at 7.00 pm. The three-day festival will also entertain the public with several other activities, including My Cat Expo, cat grooming demonstrations, a cat dance competition, a cat fashion show and performances by local buskers.

Speaking at the launch, DBKU invited all Kuching residents as well as tourists from around Malaysia and overseas to join in the festivities. The festival, which is open to the public free of charge, is expected to become one of the most vibrant community and tourism events of the year.

Also present at the press conference were DSP Victor Ak Ripon, Head of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Kuching District Police Headquarters; Mr. Rudzaimier bin Malek, Deputy Director of the Community Services Department, DBKU; Mr. Sufian bin Mohat, Founder of Putra Cat Boarding and Service; and Mr. Thomas Jong Ah Khaw, President of the Kiron Malaysian Cat Club.
