Kuching Police Arrest 46 in Major Narcotics Crackdown, Drugs Worth RM41k Seized

KUCHING, SARAWAK – 21 NOVEMBER 2025 – The Kuching District Police Headquarters successfully concluded a four-day special narcotics operation, resulting in the arrest of 46 individuals involved in drug-related activities across the city.

The operation, conducted from 17 to 20 November 2025 by the Kuching IPD Narcotics Special Ops team, targeted the distribution and abuse of dangerous drugs in the Kuching area. According to ACP Alexson Naga Son of Chabu, Kuching District Police Chief, the operation was a significant step in curbing local drug activities.

Among those arrested, two were charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, another two under Section 39A(1), five under Section 12(2), and 37 under Section 15(1)(a). Additionally, five of the 37 individuals were also charged under Section 39C for repeated drug use.

During the operation, authorities seized 1,067.25 grams of methamphetamine and 12 grams of psychotropic pills. The total estimated value of the drugs was RM41,145.70. All suspects have been brought before the Kuching Court to face their respective charges.

ACP Alexson emphasized that the operation’s success was due to continuous research and the cooperation of the public. “The Royal Malaysian Police will not compromise with any party involved in drug distribution. Possessing, distributing, or protecting drug activities is a serious offence under the law,” he said.

The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to fighting drugs to protect present and future generations, warning that drugs continue to be the nation’s number one enemy. Members of the public are urged to provide information through the JSJN hotline at 012 208 7222 or the JSJN IPK Sarawak hotline at 017 592 9211.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Sarawak to safeguard communities from the growing threat of illegal drugs.
