Further investigations revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier this month in Taman Satria on Nov 9. The suspect also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and has six prior records involving drug and property-related offences.

Supt Merbin disclosed that preliminary questioning linked the suspect to three separate shop break-ins in the city. The suspect is currently under remand for seven days as investigations continue. He is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 14 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or caning upon conviction.

The Kuching police have urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity or provide crime-related information by contacting the district police headquarters at 082-244444 or visiting the nearest police station.
