KUCHING: The MBKS Bazaar Ramadan Stutong officially opened today, bringing together residents, visitors, and food vendors in a lively celebration of Malaysia’s festive spirit. The event was officiated by Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, in a ceremony attended by Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South, Dato Zaiedi Suhali, Deputy Mayor, Cr Othman Bujang, Organising Chairman, councillors, Temenggong, and other community leaders.
The bazaar, one of the city’s most anticipated Ramadan highlights, showcases a wide range of culinary offerings. Visitors can enjoy traditional favourites such as local kuih, satay, and nasi kerabu, alongside contemporary dishes, reflecting the rich diversity of Kuching’s food scene. The vibrant atmosphere of the bazaar provides both a festive experience for families and a convenient location for residents to buy food for breaking fast.
In his speech, Datuk Dr Hazland praised the bazaar as one of the best in Kuching, commending the organisers for the excellent planning, variety of food, and energetic environment. He highlighted the importance of such events in fostering community engagement while promoting local businesses.
Dato Wee added that bazaars like MBKS Bazaar Ramadan Stutong not only support local traders but also strengthen community ties. He extended his gratitude to sponsors for their generous contributions, noting that their support was vital to the success of the event. The mayor also reaffirmed MBKS’ commitment to ensuring the bazaar operates in a clean, safe, and orderly manner, prioritising the comfort of both vendors and visitors.
