Nine Motorcycles Seized in Kuching Traffic Police Roadside Operation

KUCHING – A late-night traffic enforcement operation carried out by the Kuching District Police saw nine motorcycles confiscated for illegal modifications and further inspection.

The operation, conducted by the Kuching IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, took place between 10.00 pm on 27 September and 2.00 am on 28 September. It was led by the head of the division with the support of one officer and 22 members, including personnel from the Traffic Enforcement Unit, Sungai Maong Police Station, and the MPV Unit of Kuching IPD.

According to Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu, the operation was aimed at ensuring road users comply with laws and road safety regulations.

“Our focus is to put pressure on road activities that endanger public safety and to make sure road users follow the law,” he said in a statement.

During the checks, police examined 80 individuals and 75 motorcycles. A total of 50 summonses (PDRM (K) 257) were issued for various traffic offences. Nine motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 after being found to have been heavily modified from their original design.

ACP Alexson Naga stressed that similar enforcement efforts will continue in Kuching. He added that regular inspections will be carried out to detect and take action against reckless road users who ignore road signs and safety guidelines.

The police also welcomed cooperation from the public. Members of the community with information about traffic offences are encouraged to contact the Kuching IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 082-2599000 or report to the nearest police station.

The Kuching District Police Chief reassured the public that strict enforcement will continue to protect road users and maintain order on city roads.
