LIMBANG – Authorities from the Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) Limbang Branch launched a targeted enforcement drive known as Ops Gempur on commercial vehicles in Limbang town on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
The initiative, led by the branch’s Operations Unit, involved thorough patrols and close surveillance across key areas of the district. This operation reflects JPJ’s ongoing commitment to upholding road transport standards in Sarawak, where commercial vehicles play a vital role in daily logistics and passenger services.
In total, officers examined 69 vehicles of different categories during the checks. The focus was on ensuring adherence to established guidelines, particularly those outlined by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP).
Inspectors uncovered several breaches related to permit conditions imposed by the LPKP. These violations prompted the issuance of non-compliance notices to address the irregularities promptly.
This operation comes amid broader efforts across Sarawak to enhance road safety. Commercial vehicles, including lorries, buses, and taxis, must renew their licences annually through the LPKP, a body established under the Road Transport Act 1987 to regulate public service and goods vehicles.
