Lingga CSR Programme Targets Community Growth and Health Initiatives

A new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme spearheaded by the Lingga State Assemblyman (ADUN) Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor is set to prioritise community development and health improvement across the Lingga constituency.

The initiative was discussed during a coordination meeting held on Sunday, bringing together volunteers from the Professional Certificate Contemporary Leadership (PCCL) alongside academics, medical professionals, engineers, and corporate representatives.

The session aimed to design a structured and sustainable plan that directly addresses the needs of local communities, particularly villages in the Lingga area.

Dayang Noorazah, who chaired the meeting, emphasised that the programme must be comprehensive and tailored to the realities faced by residents. Key areas of focus include social development, healthcare, leadership training, and community empowerment.

Among the distinguished participants were Professor Ir Dr Wan Azlan Wan Zainal Abidin from the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr Kamarudin Kana from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Professor Dr Dayang Affizah Awang Marikan together with Associate Professor Dr Mahani Mohammad Abdu Sukur from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

Representatives from other institutions also contributed, including Associate Professor Dr Jati Kasuma Ali (UiTM Kota Samarahan Branch), Dr Nur Aida Kipli (UiTM Sarawak Branch), Dr Jee Teck Weng (Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus), and Dr Edris Aden (UNIMAS).

Industry professionals such as Ir Athira Abdullah (Sarawak Public Works Department), Ir Masayu Kiprawi and Ts Noor Nikman Salleh (Black Dot Management Sdn Bhd), and Ts Mohamad Fahmi Brahim (Kiasan Engineering Sdn Bhd Sarawak) also joined the discussions.

The meeting further benefited from the expertise of Nordiana Ahmad Nordin (UNIMAS) and Zaiwin Kassim, Co-Founder of ZAYN Consulting Group, who shared insights on strengthening community-based initiatives.

Organisers expressed gratitude to all participants for their strong commitment, noting that the collaboration between academia, industry, and volunteers is crucial to ensuring the programme’s success.

The CSR initiative is expected to deliver long-term benefits by improving social structures, enhancing healthcare access, and empowering communities in Lingga.

The programme reflects a growing trend in Sarawak, where CSR efforts are increasingly directed towards sustainable development and grassroots empowerment.

With continued cooperation among stakeholders, Lingga aims to set an example of how local leadership can drive meaningful change for residents’ well-being.
