Cooperation Drives Lingga Regatta 2025 Towards Cultural & Tourism Success

LINGGA – The Lingga Regatta 2025 is set to become one of the region’s most celebrated cultural events, with organisers emphasising that its success depends on strong cooperation between government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the private sector, and the local community.

Bukit Begunan Assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, officiating at the Pre-Launch Ceremony of the 3rd Edition of the Lingga Regatta at the Regatta Pavilion, Lingga Riverbank, on Friday, highlighted the importance of unity in sustaining the regatta’s growth.

He stressed that the regatta’s achievements cannot be attributed to a single party, but are the result of collective effort.

“I will continue to provide strong support to any party in their efforts to further elevate the Lingga Regatta, which has become one of the iconic events in this region,” he said.

Datuk Mong added that the regatta has showcased the commitment of Lingga’s residents in preserving the cultural heritage of the river, which has long been central to their identity.

He expressed pride in the community’s spirit of unity and confidence that the 2025 edition would be more organised, lively, and impactful than previous years.

He also emphasised that the regatta is not only a traditional celebration but has the potential to evolve into a tourism product with economic value.

By attracting domestic and international visitors, the event could benefit small traders, local entrepreneurs, the food industry, and cultural heritage preservation.

“With initiatives like this, it is hoped that Lingga will continue to be known as a destination rich in culture, history and its own unique charm among locals and foreign visitors,” he said.

The regatta, now in its third consecutive year, reflects the community’s determination to maintain traditions while embracing modern opportunities.

Organisers believe that continued cooperation among stakeholders will ensure the regatta becomes a source of pride for Lingga and a highlight in Sarawak’s tourism calendar.
