LAWAS: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, was a grand success, drawing in a lively crowd of thousands on Friday. The event, which took place at Hotel Seri Malaysia, was marked by the energetic and vibrant lion dance performance presented by the Lawas Chinese Cultural Association.

The performance, full of energy and color, brought a festive atmosphere to the celebration and became one of the key highlights of the open house. With the rhythmic drumming and lively movements of the lion dancers, it captured the essence of unity and cultural harmony that defines the diverse communities in Lawas.

The open house, held in conjunction with the Aidilfitri 1446H/2025M festivities, was hosted by Datuk Amar Awang Tengah and his family. It served as a testament to the spirit of unity in Lawas, where various ethnic communities come together to celebrate and embrace each other’s cultures. The lion dance is a tradition that showcases the strength of local cultural practices while promoting togetherness, and it resonated with everyone present.

The event was also attended by several local leaders, including Lawas Member of Parliament, Dato Henry Sum Agong, Batu Danau Assemblyman, Dato Paulus @ Palu Gumbang, Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Awangku Jinal Abidin Dato Pengiran Jawa, and NRDA Director, Dato Ubaidillah Abdul Latif. Their presence further added to the significance of the occasion, as the open house allowed members of the local community to interact with their leaders in a festive, inclusive environment.

The celebrations continued on Saturday, with more local residents visiting the open house between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm. This festive occasion not only marked the celebration of Aidilfitri but also highlighted the unity and harmony among the people of Lawas. — UKAS EDITION
