BALINGIAN: The establishment of the MADANI Community initiative serves not only as a bridge between the government and the people, but also as a critical platform for reinforcing unity and cooperation, especially in rural areas.
Balingian State Assemblyman (ADUN), Abdul Yakub Arbi, highlighted the significance of the programme in fostering community spirit, encouraging civic engagement, and supporting national development.
“The MADANI Community is an important vessel that unites the people and the government in the spirit of togetherness, mutual respect, and love for the country,” he said.
He was speaking during the Jiwa@Komuniti MADANI 3 Programme, which was held in conjunction with the Ngiling Bidai celebration at Ebbie Gat House, Sungai Seteras, on Saturday.
Abdul Yakub urged MADANI Community members to stay proactive in delivering accurate and transparent information, helping the public understand the government’s efforts and policies.
Commenting on the Ngiling Bidai celebration, he noted that the event is not only symbolic of the end of the Gawai Dayak season, but also mirrors cultural unity, similar to Aidilfitri’s “Table Collision” ceremony in the Malay community.
“What matters most is the spirit of family, harmony, and our shared cultural diversity. This is Sarawak’s true strength that we must uphold,” he said.
He also called on the public to reject divisive ideologies, racism, and any form of provocation that threatens the state’s long-standing harmony.
The event was attended by Director of the Malaysian Information Department Sarawak, Helmy Hamid, Mukah District Officer, Peleadzman Ahip, Balingian Sub-District Information Officer, Matsukarmi Suani, and community leader Langi Telajan.
