PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded civil servants that the success of the MADANI Economy framework is not merely about figures and reports, but a reflection of collective discipline and hard work across the government machinery.
Speaking to staff at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning, Anwar emphasised the importance of vigilance and continuous improvement in work performance.
He cautioned against complacency, describing public office as a trust and responsibility that must be upheld with integrity.
“This office, and the trust that is carried, is a loan to us. Everything is a loan and at the same time a trust from Allah SWT,” he said, urging civil servants to remain mindful of their duties.
The Prime Minister highlighted that national strength should not be measured solely by economic stability, but also by moral and spiritual resilience.
He stressed the need for self-awareness and intelligence in building an effective work environment, warning against what economist John Kenneth Galbraith termed the “culture of contentment,” which he described as a dangerous mindset that weakens determination for reform.
Anwar called on leaders at all levels to continue reflecting, correcting, and improving, rather than resting on past achievements.
He noted that Malaysia had recently demonstrated its organisational capability by successfully hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, which showcased efficiency, safety, and cleanliness.
“Malaysia stands tall and majestic in this region as a relatively small but successful country. We have proven that we are capable of forging history, organising such a large meeting,” he remarked, expressing pride in the achievement.
He concluded by stressing that every policy and action must be rooted in values of simplicity and responsibility, ensuring that Malaysia’s progress remains meaningful and enduring.
